The fashion world has been agog with rumours of Hedi Slimane leaving Saint Laurent over the course of the past year and on the 31st of March Hedi Slimane ended his 4 year tenure as creative director for the heritage French house. He one of the fourth prominent creative directors to exit prominent fashion houses in the past couple of months following Raf Simmons at Dior, Alber Elba at Lanvin and just recently Massimiliano Giornetti at Salvatore Ferragamo.
With his rock and roll, edgy and cool aesthetic, Hedi Slimane kept the fashion house as one of the prominent go to brands during his four year tenure. Anthony Vaccarello has been rumoured to be the prospective new creative director for Saint Laurent tower with Anthony Vaccarello currently running his own fashion line and Versace’s Versus, I wonder how true this is. However, I believe Vaccarello with his equally edgy aesthetic would be the best successor to continue with Hedi Slimane’s legacy at Saint Laurent.
Like everyone else in the world of fashion, I am looking for to seeing whats next for Hedi Slimane. Till then, check out my favourite pieces from his collections over the past four years
